Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 2 cups broccoli
- 1 bell pepper
- 1 cup carrot
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 3 Tbsp honey
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp ginger
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tsp sesame oil
pincer grasp Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 2 cups broccoli
- 1 bell pepper
- 1 cup carrot
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 3 Tbsp honey
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp ginger
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tsp sesame oil
pincer grasp Instructions
- WHISK together the **chicken broth**, **soy sauce**, **honey**, **cornstarch**, **ginger**, **garlic**, and **sesame oil** in a small bowl for the family's sauce. Set aside.
- [BABY PREP] CHOP the baby's portion of **chicken breasts**, **broccoli**, **bell pepper**, and **carrots** into 1cm bite-sized pieces (chickpea-sized).
- [BABY PREP] HEAT 1 Tbsp of **olive oil** in a skillet. ADD the baby's 1cm **chicken** pieces to one side of the skillet and the family's larger chicken pieces to the other side. Cook until baby's chicken reaches a safe internal temperature of 165°F. Remove baby's chicken and set aside.
- [BABY PREP] ADD the remaining **olive oil** to the skillet. SAUTÉ the baby's 1cm **broccoli**, **bell pepper**, and **carrots** with a tiny pinch of grated **ginger** and minced **garlic**. Add 2 tablespoons of water, cover, and steam for 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are fork-tender and easily squishable.
- [PULL POINT] REMOVE the baby's soft, 1cm cooked **vegetables** and **chicken** from the skillet and set aside on a clean plate before any family sauce is added.
- [BABY PREP] ALLOW the baby's portion to cool completely. Toss with a tiny drop of **sesame oil** (if sesame has been safely introduced) to add flavor and healthy fats. Serve the 1cm pieces to baby to practice their pincer grasp.
- FINISH the family's meal by pouring the whisked sauce into the skillet with the remaining family vegetables. Bring to a simmer for 1-2 minutes until thickened, return the family's chicken to the pan, toss to coat, and serve warm over rice.
